Description of the Work:
Icon of a new world, virtual icon. This original watercolor reinvents the portrait of a contemporary heroine: Maelle, the central character of the French video game Clair Obscur. Here, she is elevated as a modern icon, between digital culture and pictorial tradition. Her face is framed by a golden halo, symbolizing inner light, sacred energy, and timeless power. Around her, a lush garden of exotic and extravagant flowers bursts in vivid colors, creating a contrast between the digital imagination and organic abundance. Each invented petal becomes a bridge between the virtual and natural worlds, inviting reflection on what connects us: memory, beauty, fragility.
🌿 Artistic Approach This work belongs to my series of “Icons,” portraits of women – real, imaginary, or virtual – united by an invisible thread: universal sisterhood.
With The Icon of Chiaroscuro, I open a dialogue between traditional art and digital culture, celebrating heroines who shape our collective imagination. The gold halo becomes a symbol of digital sacredness, a contemporary crown connecting the sacred icon of the past to today’s E-icon.
Each portrait is also a collectible piece, intended to adorn spaces where contemporary art, elegance, and meaning have their place: galleries, luxury hotels, wellness spaces, refined interiors, or private collections.
